ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF). Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2024Lisanne Meester is one of them.

Lisanne Meester is a designer and maker of statement pieces for outspoken interiors. In her designs she likes to show constructional elements and materials that others might try to hide, such as big bolts, plywood edges and concrete. She finds beauty in these and uses them as key features of her designs.

Lisanne graduated from Willem de Kooning Academy as a product designer, mainly making small objects. After wandering around for a bit, which included working in a hardware store, she found herself a studio space that she turned into a proper workshop. She discovered that she actually likes to take her eye for detail and apply this into bigger pieces of furniture. Her work can be applied into interior or retail design. Custom solutions are also a possibility.

During Driving Dutch Design, she would like to further develop and deepen her business skills. Sparring together with other creative entrepreneurs is an extra positive element. “You learn from the teachers, but also a big lot from each other!” The goal of this period of development is to win larger commissions from brands and stores that could really use a statement piece!

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship.
