ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF). Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2024, Suzan Hijink is one of them.

Suzan Hijink is an illustrator living in Arnhem. She enjoys working with short deadlines on editorial illustrations for newspapers and magazines. And when she is not busy drawing news, she enjoys working on larger projects, such as murals, wallpaper designs, public artworks and illustrations for brands and companies.

She has collaborated with the newspaper ‘Trouw’, the Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Zuiderzee Museum. Fresh colors and textures flow from her digital brush. Her illustrations are realistic with a surrealistic twist. Is it real or not? Do you believe what you see? With these questions, she challenges the viewer to look more closely.

Her participation in Driving Dutch Design is already incredibly valuable to her. With the knowledge from the master classes, the tools she receives here and the fine consultations with all the other Drivers, she is now working on a series of her own works that will be shown for the first time at Dutch Design Week 2024. These works are all about food and the themes involved.

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship.
