The list of Dutch designers working for IKEA is quite long. From Hella Jongerius, Piet Hein Eek, Sabine Marcelis, Raw Color, to Monika Mulder and Friso Wiersma.

During this year’s Milan Design Week, the Swedish giant showcased its new collections and collaborations with many international designers. One interesting highlight is the return of the IKEA PS Collection. The IKEA PS collections were launched in 1995. Characterized by small series, with an experimental yet bold product’s line. This year, in the 10th anniversary edition of this project, we once again have a Dutch amazing accent.

Rotterdam based designer Lex Pott presented his transforming lamp. He created a playful floor lamp that easily transforms into a reading lamp. By turning two hidden, completely invisible 45-degree hinges, the lamp can be transformed in various ways. The special hinge has been patented by Pott and IKEA.

The lamp has a highly recognizable shape, reminiscent of a child’s drawing. It sits on a straight stick like a broom handle, with a trumpet-shaped lampshade at the end. It’s a great product for karaoke game, as it resembles a microphone.

The lamp is available in three colours: bright yellow, bright blue, and a darker red. These are clearly the designer’s signature colours, judging by his previous designs for HAY.

During the press launch in Milan, Lex said that “now my mom finally knows what I do as a designer.”

The lamp is one of 35 products that will be included in this year’s IKEA PS 2026 collection. And the price is unbelievable … €39.95.
