The cahier ‘Eugene Bay’, written by Rob Huisman, appeared on Wednesday 28 March 2018 at the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam.

Eugene Bays father worked for the diplomatic service of Great Britain in an ever-changing range of capitals of the world. Up to his eleventh Eugene Bay successively lived in Turkey, Italy, India and Singapore. He learned the basis of his profession at the famous London College of Printing. At Michael Peters and Partners he learned how to interact with customers and how to apply all the ins and outs of building brands. In 1983, after having worked at various agencies in England and the Netherlands, he became one of the founders of what became VBAT. He is described by many as a brand builder pur sang. In 2013, due to his selfless commitment to design, photography and communication in the Netherlands, he was knighted on the recommendation of a large number of private individuals and organizations.

Roots is a collaboration between [Z]OO producties and Wilco Art Books. The aim of the series is to generate attention for the roots of the Dutch graphic design culture. Roots is wholeheartedly supported by The Association of Dutch Designers (BNO), Pictoright and Wim Crouwel Instituut.
