Solo exhibition Simone Post with Rademakers Gallery at KunstRAI

With the same waste materials of textile brand Vlisco with whom Simone Post has been working with for several years now, she took it a step further: the designer created a new cotton wax universe. “The deeper I dive into waste materials and products, the bigger the mess and the questions get”, Simone says. “We treat our products as if they are worthless and we have come to see nature as a product itself, we as humans have placed ourselves outside nature. I turn this around and make nature out of products and visualised parts of a new fantastical world in which all is one again.”

Portraits
The human portraits deliberately make no distinction between men and women. Their names refer to stars in the galaxy.  With nature human and objects being all made out of the same matter.

Overgrown constructions
Simone Post took the material one step further towards 3D objects. She covered two poufs and a large pillar with Vlisco left over textiles, like flowers that overgrow the construction of a building. Nature reclaims its place in the petrified world.

Textile waste as matter
All the works gain more and more details, this is perfectly exposed in the Burning Blossom works. The textiles are being used as if they where paint; able to transform into anything.
