Within this series, ‘Tactual Misfits’, Studio Frowijn is shapeshifting to explore how textiles can evoke eroticism and sensuality without falling into exploitative or objectifying representations. Inspired by (eco)feminism, new materialism, and her fashion background, artist Liselore Frowijn plays with power dynamics inherent in the creation and consumption of textiles. Curiosity leads to gestures for the ambivalence within (non)human bodies and the abundance and accumulation within everyday materialities. The challenge is to overcome shame or alienation and search for mutual interconnectedness.
Material: recycled clothing/beads/belts/bags, wood, glass, clay.
