Are you longing for a new trip after the summer holidays? A trip not far away, a unique destination, just for you. From 1 to 21 September, artist collective Circus Andersom opens the ‘Aardereisburo’ (Earth Travel Office) in Amstelpark. Let yourself be seduced by shivering, slowing down, unprecedented travel destinations that are just right for you.
The Tinteltuin, the Luisterrijk, the Aaivallei, the Fluisterbos… In the ‘Aardereisburo’, Circus Andersom, with brightly coloured offers and smooth advertising texts, welcomes passers-by. You will receive a fully customised travel advice to one or more destinations in the park after a personal check-in.
The ‘Aardereisburo’ invites internal experiential trips to Earth and exchanges with each other about the meaning of landing on Earth. An exploration of slowing down, connecting, deepening, speeding up and twisting and how to make fresh contact with the Earth through this. The Earth Travel Office is a new starting point to let people experience from optimism that it feels especially very nice to tighten our connection with the Earth, besides that it might be urgent. ‘Aardereisburo’ is about the human desire to feel connected to the Earth that carries us, the Earth that feeds us and the Earth that gives us a place.
Circus Andersom is a collective operating at the intersection of autonomous art and social design. The collective is formed by Esme Calis, Martijn Engelbregt, Linda Koene and Allard Medema and, for this project, assisted by Roos Beute. We specialise in developing and designing projects in which social issues are presented in an accessible and personal way. Humour and language are an important factor here, and we do not shy away from abrasion because we know that it is precisely from discomfort that dialogue and connection arise.
After the Earth-rock project ‘Vier de Aarde’ (Celebrate Earth) in the Glass House in the Amstelpark from December 2023-January 2024, and extensive research into travelling to Earth in Groningen with Groninger farmers and community market in spring this year, Circus Andersom is now bringing the ‘Aardereisburo’ to Amsterdam.
