At Circus Andersom, we like to turn things upside down. But also people.
Together with a fantastic group of volunteers from Oberon Theaterproducties and Theatergroep Eenhoorn, we welcomed almost 400 people to a lively DOESGOED (do something good) gathering, where entrepreneurs and social organisations met to forge real connections. We didn’t start with a chair or a badge, but with a ritual: turning, touching, meeting each other.

On stage, I was able to explain how CONNECTION stems from a broader WE. When we recognise that YOU are another ME, then THEY are nothing more than another WE. Then we simply add up: WE + WE = WE’S. As soon as we start to experience that we are connected to each other, exclusion becomes a somewhat short-sighted move. And if WE connect people with people in a broader WE, then we simply include PLANTS and ANIMALS. While we’re at it, our ANCESTORS can join us too, as well as the realisation that we are DESCENDANTS of those who will experience this Earth after us. A broader WE brings WE-NESS.

We seem to be living in an age of scarcity, but WE-NESS is there for the taking. Will you join me in gathering it?
We danced with each other, we spun each other around. We gave each other not only our right hand (the hand of reason) but also our left hand (the hand of emotion). We walked around each other, not to avoid each other, but to find ourselves through the other. It was playful, physical, sometimes a little awkward, but above all connecting.
