ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF). Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2024. Today Suuz de Leeuw of De Ambachtelijke Ontwerpers.

De Ambachtelijke Ontwerpers (craftmanship designers), tradition meets innovation. Founded by Suuz de Leeuw, the studio blends time-honored techniques with contemporary aesthetics to create unique graphic design and handmade products. Specializing in printed matter and visual identities, the studio creates for small-scale entrepreneurs, events and cultural institutions.

“My passion and inspiration comes from traditional craftsmanship and amazing materials. With a commitment to sustainability all materials are either recycled or reused and waste is minimised at every stage. Each project is meticulously designed with these eco-friendly practices in mind and I often enthusiastically educate my clients on the beautiful possibilities.”

“At Dutch Design Week 2024, I’m thrilled to launch DAOxNotes, a line of notebooks and accompanying cases that embody all values of quality and sustainability. Each notebook is a testament to slow, handmade manufacturing and features a velvety soft screen-printed cover on homemade recycled paper and is hand bound with care. The cases utilize recycled materials from cultural exhibitions, creating a colorful and unique look. And ofcourse we went nuts on the packaging design, it’s a graphic design studio after all!”
