Kelderman and van Noort (KEVN) in Eindhoven presents the third edition of Estafette, a duo exhibition featuring Dalal Mitwally (Jordan/Netherlands) and Leyli Rashidi Rauf (Iran/Netherlands).

Estafette #3
Estafette #3 centers on the personal and the human. While Dalal Mitwally and Leyli Rashidi Rauf approach their work from different perspectives, they share a deep interest in stories, lived experiences, and connection.

Leyli Rashidi and Dalal Mitwally

Dalal Mitwally frequently works with local communities, translating conversations, memories, and local histories into public murals. Her work brings invisible stories to light and shapes collective memory. Leyli Rashidi Rauf takes a more introspective approach. Through her drawings, paintings, and installations, she explores themes such as identity, gender, and the layered nature of being human. Her work emerges from personal reflection and invites both stillness and recognition.

During the residency, their practices will intersect. How will they influence each other’s process? Where do their approaches meet? And how did that take shape within the walls of KEVN?

Dalal Mitwally
Dalal Mitwally, originally from Amman (Jordan) and now based in Rotterdam, predominantly works in public space creating large-scale murals.

Her work is rooted in the stories of the communities surrounding each mural. To prepare, she conducts in-depth research using diverse methods – including archival research, close reading of texts, interviews and workshops to deepen her understanding of the place and build a connection with its people. Using traditional painting tools such as brushes and latex paint, she brings these narratives to life on walls.Through her work, she seeks to create a dialogue between the environment and its inhabitants, encouraging people to reflect on their own surroundings. She has brought this approach to places such as Beirut, Linz, Belfast, Amman and Patras.

Leyli Rashidi
Leyli Rashidi Rauf, born in Tehran (Iran) and now based in Amsterdam, explores themes of identity, gender and the representation of women in her work.

Before moving to the Netherlands to deepen her artistic practice, she taught drawing for five years at an art school in Tehran. Her work is characterized by detailed, realistic imagery captured in oil paint, charcoal, and pencil – often using a distinctive dark color palette. She also creates installations using paper, textile and found objects. Drawing from observation and conversation, she portrays figures, faces and everyday objects, using them as a lens to reflect on human identity and psychology. Her work invites viewers to question their own perceptions of self and the world around them.
