Kelderman and van Noort (KEVN) in Eindhoven presents the fourth and final edition of Estafette, a duo exhibition featuring Martinus Papilaja (NL) and Sergio Gómez (ES).
Estafette #4
Martinus Papilaja and Sergio Gómez find inspiration in public space, observing and researching their direct surroundings. They both try to expand the limits of their visual lexicon by a daily drawing routine, exploring different shapes and linework.

Martinus and Sergio share an interest in the temporary, impermanent and incomplete which is shaped by their background in graffiti – a form that is destined to fade. Their work is characterised by organic forms, wiggly lines, bright colours, energy and movement. Seeing them at work is like watching an intuitive choreography, where the body directs the scale and shape of the visual outcome. How will their work transform through their collaboration? What new insights might their residency uncover? And what sets them apart?

Martinus Papilaja (Netherlands) Martinus Papilaja, based in Arnhem, is a discoverer with public space as his playground. With pens, markers, brushes, and spray cans, he works intuitively on drawings, murals, sculptures, and tattoos. His visual language balances between abstract forms and recognizable letters, fueled by his fascination with graffiti and the traces people leave behind in the city.
Sergio Gómez (Spain) Sergio Gómez, also known as SRGER, lives and works in Seville. He draws inspiration from traces and materials he finds on the street, translating them into colorful shapes, scratches, and symbols. His work moves across paper, canvas, walls, and installations, often literally breaking through the boundaries of the frame and blending his paintings with their surroundings.
