FASHIONCLASH Festival 2020 – Saturday

The 12th edition of the international and interdisciplinary FASHIONCLASH Festival will take place from 26 – 28 February 2021. During this three-day festival, a new generation of designers and (performing) artists from home and abroad will have the opportunity to show their work digitally to a diverse and international audience. The 12th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival will not only contain of digital exhibition tours, films, video reports and performances but will also contain live elements such as live fashion talks. The fourth edition of the Fashion Makes Sense Award will also be presented during the digital edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival.

4th Fashion Makes Sense Award Show + Talk | Saturday 27 February, 14:00
FASHIONCLASH presents the fourth edition of the Fashion Makes Sense Award, a recurring stimulation prize for a new generation of designers with innovative and sustainable ideas for the future of fashion. Two prizes will be awarded as part of FMSA: an audience prize of € 1000 and a jury prize of € 2500. Finalists will present their work during the Fashion Makes Sense Award Show on Saturday 27th of February during the digital 12th edition of FASHIONCLASH Festival. This is an online live event moderated by Anne-Ro Klevent Groen (marketing and communications director Fashion for Good, Editor-at-Large Sustainability Vogue Netherlands). During this online presentation, Liselot Hoeksta will present her project ‘Deadstock Island’ and the FMSA award winners will be announced. FMSA Finalists are: Arí van Twillert, SANKIM, ESRA COPUR, Kevin Pleiter, MARKO FEHER, Andrea Grossi, Mathilde Rougier, MATTHEW NEEDHAM and Saskia Lenaerts.

Class of 2020 | Saturday 27 February, 15:30
As part of the festival, a selection has been made of a number of graduation projects of the Dutch fashion academies. These are presented in the form of an exhibition, not a “best of”, but a translation of the zeitgeist of the 2020 generation.

The Locals | Saturday 27 February, 17:00
On Sunday, November 29th, several local designers will present their work during the collective show The Locals. In this show designers from Maastricht and the region are showing their new collections. The Locals features TEUN, MICHI’M x MAXNIEREISEL, PAERS, STUDIO | HEEY and Turtlehorn.

New Fashion Narratives | Saturday 27 February, 18:30
The fashion designers at the heart of New Fashion Narratives take fashion as a mission. They belong to a generation of designers who are exploring the boundaries of their discipline and questioning the system and the fashion industry. Their works move between the transdisciplinary domains of fashion, social design, visual art and always work with the ultimate user/consumer. In this way they introduce contemporary themes such as inclusivity, gender, consumption and with that new narratives for fashion.

The Clash House | Saturday 27 February, 20:00
This editions program includes a new show program component that focuses more on performative experiences in which designers are challenged to actively experiment with forms of presentation and inclusive audience participation. Designers participating in this program will enter into a dialogue with performing artists Mami Izumi and Giovanni Brand to create a unique presentation form for their new collections. In addition, there is a substantive consultation with the show production partner Sessibon. Participating designers are Berend Brus, Marlou Breuls Creative Studio, NEO Design, MAARTEN VAN MULKEN, Rena Jansen, The Nightmare Disorder and a special presentation by XHOSA in collaboration with Black Harmony.

And there is a lot more | Individual events
The program consists of individual presentations by designers, artists such as Anouk van Klaveren, LLIS and Chiron Floris. In addition, the program contains collaborations with educational institutes Toneelacademie Maastricht and iArts Maastricht. The fourth edition of Talentlab, the talent development project of Toneelgroep Maastricht and VIA ZUID, that took place in November. Among the participants in this project is Carlijn Veurink.
