Manualphabet by Ben Bos
This little book is made as an ‘in memoriam’ for Ben Bos, my beloved husband.
A couple of month before Ben’s death he was planning a new project. He called it his ‘Manualphabet’.
Ben’s last project
Every Sunday when he was lying in the bath, soaking in hot water he tried to form an alphabet with his hands. To make it as perfect as possible, it took him many Sunday’s. When he was more of less satisfied he asked our friend photographer Aatjan Renders to photograph it. So in the second part of December 2016, Aatjan came and the three of us started to work on taking good pictures.
Then suddenly Ben died and then there was no idea what to do with the pictures. After some time, Aatjan and I decided to try and make a project of it and in cooperation with AGI friend and colleague Bob van Dijk this little book came to pass. But what is a book without a printer; Arie Lenoir our printer friend was, as ever, so generous to made it a happen.
