Biography of a Fly

By 09-04-2021

In Biography of a Fly, Jaap Robben describes the life story of a fly, right from the moment that as a larva he sees the light of day right until the deathbed. Paul Faassen took care of the drawings, which resulted in a beautiful (gift) booklet for readers of all ages.

Each chapter describes a day in the life of the main character: an ever-enthusiastic fly that becomes friends with a pedantic buzzard and fully enjoys life. No matter how short it is. A story about discoveries, friendship and transience. The cover is carried out in several different colors of linen, varying from the rust brown of fly poodles and the white of buzzards’ bellies to the green color of the dung fly and the black of the humfly.

Poster project
Biography of a fly is written as a poster project commissioned by Wintertuin | De nieuwe Oost. The story could be read in 25 chapters along the road, either while walking or cycling. In Nijmegen the poster project was on display as part of Wintertuin and in Leeuwarden as part of Explore the North. In 2021 Biography of a fly will also be shown in Tilburg as part of Tilt and in Arnhem as part of Nieuwe Types.
