Cern Science Gateway
Unraveling the mysteries of the universe
In assignment of CERN (European laboratory for particle physics), Tinker designed ‘Our Universe’, which is one of three exhibition spaces at the CERN Science Gateway in Switzerland. Housed in one of the impressive tubes within the building designed by RPBW architects. Tinker’s contribution includes the exhibition Back to the Big Bang, narrating the history of the entire universe, and an art space called Exploring the Unknown, showcasing artists’ installations on the theme of the Big Unanswered Questions in physics.
Back to the Big Bang offers a captivating journey through the universe’s history, starting with real-time particle detection in the present. A tactile timeline spans nearly 14 billion years, designed to be accessible for blind and visually impaired individuals. It offers visitors profound insights into the origins of the universe, reaching back to the Early Universe and the Big Bang. The interactive exhibits resemble laboratory setups, and a compelling film portrays the earliest stages of the universe, up to a millionth billionth of a second after the Big Bang.
