A classic candlestick with a modern twist
The Hague Dutch designer Bas Vellekoop presents candlestick ‘Lux’ The name ‘Lux’ refers to the light intensity of 1 candle.
Designs by Bas Vellekoop are known for simplicity in detailing and construction. This also applies to the new ‘Lux candlestick’. The design is inspired by the classic ‘Chamberstick’, which can be carried at the characteristic ‘eye’. Vellekoop has given the classic candlestick a modern twist by combining a sleek design out of metal with traditionally slipcastting of stoneware.
The main shape, made of laser-cut steel, is folded and powder coated in three colors; off white, basalt and purper. The bronze-coloured stoneware candle holder was developed in collaboration with ceramist Inge Simonis. Her skills in combination with Bas Vellekoop 3D printing expertise enabled them to create slipcasting moulds, from 3D printed models, for the candle holder. Everything is made locally, in South-Holland.
