DIGI crockery
The DIGI crockery was one of our earliest ideas. Originally, this crossover of the digital and the real world was part of our very first collection of designs that we presented in Milan in 2007.
Our idea was that of a manufacturable world using digital tools, in this case a very early 3d printer. In 2007, we envisioned a world where people print their own products as needed, an early version of open source in other words.
The design of the digi tableware is a nod to the digital world. Charmed as we are by early 8-bit abstraction (Nintendo, SEGA, Atari) and films like TRON, Back to the Future and so on, we modelled our crockery after these visions of a digital future world.
The faceted look on the one hand refers to a low-res image, but also winks at the facets we find in cut crystal, among other things, which, unlike low-res, are actually a sign of craftsmanship.
We are proud that Pol’s Potten has developed one of our first ideas as studio Kranen/Gille with us into an extremely mature tableware. The tableware is made of porcelain and is hand-painted.
