Driving Dutch Design – Kim Melody Zoutewelle

By 17-08-2023

ONE WEEK ABOUT Driving Dutch Design by curators Patrick Aarts Sen (BNO) and Katja Lucas (DDF)

Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2023, Kim Melody Zoutewelle is one of them.

There is always an element of surprise in Kim’s work that leads to interaction with the viewer. Over the years she has specialized mainly in screen printing patterns on glass, each panel is unique and handmade. The craft process gives her the freedom to combine new and old techniques, resulting in innovative outcomes. Color, sophisticated textures, nuances in designs and playful distortions are the essence of her work and often refer to the beauty of nature. Her goal is to use poetic and narrative glass works to make people wonder and interiors come alive. Kim’s work is available as an exclusive art object and as an ambient lamp.

‘Through the Driving Dutch Design program I see much better what the strength of my business is, I have learned to take people into my production process so they better understand the value of a unique handmade product.’
