Driving Dutch Design is the professionalisation and networking programme of Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (BNO), Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) and Stichting Stokroos that helps talented designers get started in the world of entrepreneurship. Over the next few days, we show the Drivers of 2023, Lieke Neuman is one of them.
Merlou Visual Storytelling designs narrative wall prints for healthcare, which reduce stress and create positive distractions. The wall prints intuitively enhance the orientation in the building and contribute to the spatial identity of the organization.
Merlou Visual Storytelling was founded by Lieke Neuman, who graduated as a graphic designer from ArtEZ. She then developed as a graphic designer within exhibitions and spatial experiences. She worked for 15 years for 2 leading agencies in this field. Here she worked in a multidisciplinary team on national and international projects. She also graduated as a Cabaret and Cabaret Artist.
She brings these experiences into the designs she makes, she approaches the space from the visitor’s experience, tells a story with images where a touch of humor should not be missing. She wants to take people into a wonderful world, where there is always something new to discover.
Her designs can be seen at the Amalia Children’s Hospital Radboud UMC, Juliana Children’s Hospital The Hague, Amphia Hospital Breda, UMC Utrecht Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital and the Opvoedpoli The Hague.
She is currently following the Driving Dutch Design program, where she is learning through various master classes how to give substance to entrepreneurship in a way that suits her.
