Forma, Gir, Fort and Cru
Crevin, internationally renowned manufacturer of contemporary upholstery textiles, presents Forma, Gir, Fort, and Cru, a series of products designed by Studio Stefan Scholten in collaboration with Crevin’s in-house design team.
The collaboration materialises in four new textiles that can be previewed at Heimtextil from Tuesday, 9 January through Friday, 12 January 2024 in Frankfurt Am Main.
The collection is an exploration of colour and texture translated into knitted and woven virgin and recycled polyester as base materials. Forma is a knitted textile with great stretch and an impressive colour palette. Its bicolour yarn and subtly sprinkled mélange accentuate the home-like look while keeping the performance of a knit. Gir means twist. Weaving a unique yarn composed of two filaments with different tones and textures gives Gir a rich texture yet surprisingly soft touch. Informed by hopsack weaves, its twisted yarn provides an irregular look to a structured construction. Fort is made from 80% recycled yarn. With a colour chart featuring bold and vibrant brushstrokes, Fort is a fabric with organic appearance and smooth touch. Cru means raw in Catalan, referring to a pure and spirited design statement. It is conceived from an upscaled construction full of surprising details and rich colour tones. This combination of textures is meant to suggest the craft of designing and producing upholstery textiles.
Stefan Scholten has become one of the defining voices in world-renowned Dutch Design after graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1995. Based in Amsterdam, the studio designs for a variety of well-respected brands, such as HAY, Desso, Artifort, Moroso, Forbo, Cappellini, nanimarquina, and 1616 / arita japan. He is known for his reductionist design style combined with a unique use of colour. His designs are functional and applicable, but always expressive.
Crevin have been creating premium upholstery fabrics for near to 50 years. Designed and crafted from custom-spun yarns, their fabrics offer a timeless aesthetic inspired by the colours and landscapes of the Mediterranean, combined with a craftsmanship deeply rooted in the 150-year-old legacy of local textile weaving. Terrassa— a city not too far from Barcelona — continues to be a place of respect for heritage, people, and excellence in cultivating the sustainable technologies of the future.
