Fuck Design, Let’s Dance
Fuck Design, Let’s Dance is the provocative title of a book that showcases in a swinging way the multifaceted contemporary design work of André Toet (The Hague, 1950) and Marianne Vos (The Hague, 1953-2021). After studying at art academies in The Hague and London, they started the successful design agency Samenwerkende Ontwerpers (SO Design) together in 1983. They made their name with logos for Ajax, the KNVB and ASN Bank, among others, designed high-profile exhibitions and won several awards for house styles, calendars and annual reports. Soon after Marianne’s death, André decided to honor his partner and lover with an overview of their work. Today, André Toet designs, among other things, fonts in which he explores what can be discovered in form and meaning within the straitjacket of 26 letters.
Fuck Design, Let’s Dance was officially presented on Nov. 4 at the opening of the exhibition ’26×26 TypeDesign’ at the ACEC in Apeldoorn where an overview of his fonts is on display.
