ONE WEEK ABOUT Textile Design by curator Eugène van Veldhoven

Hélène Dashorst (1965, Nederland), BA Textielontwerp aan de Rietveld Academie.

Since 1991 the studio of Hélène Dashorst has designed woven interior textiles, with a focus on dobby weave; curtains (black-out, transparant or semitransparant), upholstery fabrics, wall covering, rugs, carpet (wall to wall) and packing material. She works with raffia, wool, polyester, but also horse hair and leather. Her industrial designs are being used for both their appearance and technical input.

Dashorst has an extensive knowledge of yarn, construction of fabrics and special finishes. Often she develops new designs in weaving mills, standing at the loom. Recently she has also started designing special yarns. Her network of mills and yarn suppliers is enormous.

Work of Dashorst is part of the collection of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Dutch Textielmuseum.
Some of her clients are: Hermès, Ikea, Calvin Klein home, Limited Edition.
