Isabel Quiroga: Imaginative Functionality
The designs of Isabel Quiroga are beloved for their combination of imagination and functionality. The designer’s focus is fixed squarely on the purpose of the product, but through her innovative slant on things she achieves the delicate balancing act of practicality and originality.
Isabel Quiroga is convinced that even everyday objects should sing with the pleasure of experimentation. Working in Amsterdam, she designs collections that combine vivid imagination and down-to-earth functionality. The designer works in commission and produces small series of living accessories and furniture. Recently she designed a side table for Istanbul based label Uniqka. For the Dutch brand Puik Design she designed a series of candleholders.
Another design of her is TreeTable, which is a multifunctional piece of furniture with three movable tabletops. As people are moving places more than ever, she wanted to design an object that can be adjusted to different surroundings and can adapt to different usages with the aid of various accessories that can be attached.
