The best alternative election poster of 2023

By 15-11-2023

The Algemene Beschouwingen(General Reflections) poster project received more than 230 entries. On November 22, both the professional jury and the public will choose their winners. The forty best posters can now be seen in both Den Bosch, Breda and The Hague.

On Wednesday, November 22, the House of Representatives elections will take place. Of course, elections require posters – real ones as well as alternative ones. The Algemene Beschouwingen poster project gives creative people the chance to design their own alternative election posters.

The more than 230 posters submitted show visual commentary on current Dutch politics. Created by designers and illustrators from all over the Netherlands, the posters raise issues, express criticism or serve as encouragement.

Winners to be exhibited
A selection of 40 posters was made from all the entries. These can be seen scattered in Den Bosch, Breda and The Hague. The selection was made by the jury consisting of members of Nieuwe Bossche School and Graphic Matters. The complete selection will be exhibited from Wednesday, November 22 in the Werkwarenhuis, Den Bosch. In addition, exhibits will be placed in Breda from November 14 to 23 at Avans and De Rooi Pannen Seelig-Noord and in The Hague at Amare on Spuiplein and in Café Dudok.

Public votes on November 22
All posters can be found at www.algemenebeschouwingen.nl. On November 22, anyone who wants can vote there for their favorite election poster. The poster with the most votes wins the public prize, which will be awarded on Sunday, November 26 at 3 p.m. in the Werkwarenhuis. The jury prize will also be awarded there.
