Light on Labs Den Bosch
On December 1 and 2, the doors of Cor Unum, SPARK Lab, Graphic Atelier and Glaslab will be wide open in Den Bosch for anyone with a nose for design, craft and art. Under the heading “Light on Labs,” they are joining forces to take visitors into the world behind the creative making process. For example, you can see how ceramics are poured into a mold, stained glass is restored, printing presses run and a 3D print is made. In addition to demonstrations of the making process, there are exhibitions to see and you can experience the making process yourself at various workshops. You are welcome between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Cor Unum
Cor Unum offers a stage to three generations of designers during the Light on Labs days. First, the retrospective of the ‘founding father’ of this ceramics studio, Zweitse Landsheer (1928 – 2010). It was he who laid the foundation for this center of high-quality ceramic design 70 years ago. On Friday, December 1, Arian Brekveld will be in the house, established designer of, among other things, the vase Trails. He will be happy to explain his work. In addition, Cor Unum is putting young talent in the light on December 1 and 2: Ditte Teeuwen, Willem Zwiers and Laila Dupont all 3 scored highly at the annual Design Competition. Their prize-winning entries were put into production by Cor Unum. They will tell about it. SPARK Lab
SPARK Lab is a modern workshop for innovative craftsmanship for the design construction and engineering sector. Two workshops will be held for students on Friday, Dec. 1. With the biomimicry workshop (from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.), students will learn to look at nature from a different perspective and take the first steps to learn from innovations from nature. The Nature Building Kit workshop (from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.) provides tools to build a greener world using biobased and sustainable materials. On Saturday, December 2, SPARK Lab will be closed. Grafisch Atelier
During Light on Labs, the Graphic Atelier will feature demonstrations by workshop masters and you can see a mini-exhibition of the five up-and-coming talents Daisy van Beers, Fleur Jakobs, Marloes Vreeswijk, Rob Heesbeen and Perla van Kessel. All five spent a week at the Graphic Atelier in 2023. The final results: the successful, as well as the failed experiments and proofs, will be presented in the Graphic Atelier. GlasLab
The GlasLab Den Bosch is a contemporary glass studio that challenges professional artists and designers to become proficient in artisanal and innovative glass processing techniques. The workshop provides space for experimentation and performance issues in flat glass, which can be carried out under the guidance of experienced glass artists and a mentor.
