The brief to us from Maaspoort was to go all out for their jubilee and create a new identity. They’re a multifaceted organisation that is not only a theatre, but also has fantastic meeting rooms, two restaurants, a roof terrace, a hotel and so can accommodate large events like parties, conferences, and gatherings. This multifaceted aspect needed to shine through into their new identity. So together with the Maaspoort team we ran several strategic sessions to review their mission and vision to conclude and condense it down to their own unique essence.

The ‘Maas’ (river) is the inspiration that flows through the centre of the heart of Venlo. Maaspoort being the beating heart of the city. The ‘Maas’ is lively, beautiful, full of energy and always on the move. The Poort (gateway) is the explorer. The guide. The ‘Poort’ is always open to let you discover something new and challenge you. It will give you renewed inspiration, relaxation, and enjoyment. Maaspoort is the place to meet, experience new music, taste mouthwatering food and get some business done.

The logo has been inspired by the old city gates next to the Maas in the centre of Venlo. This gate is the base (literally) of Maaspoort, a beautifully recognizable element that is held dearly in the hearts of the residents of Venlo and the surrounding area. Recognisable and beautifully applicable in different forms, from print material to digital, as a solid form or in line format. Finally, the colour choice was obvious, purple was and is the color of Maaspoort and what better way to emphasize it, than to compliment it with a youthful pink.The launch is being rolled out in phases, so the Maaspoort story is far from over.
