Photobook ‘Corrie & Joseph’

By 16-09-2019

A photobook about the ‘Spakenburg Diva’s’ in relation to the arts in which the enduring relationship/history of Het Wilde Oog with women in regional costumes is expressed. The book clarifies the skills of Het Wilde Oog: from theatrical direction to the power of archetypical images, with many examples of the dialogue between the ‘Spakenburg Diva’s’ and contemporary art.

The second pillar of this book is the German artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986). His importance for our society is shown in six so-called social-artistic projects and in concrete elaborations in which Spakenburg costumes and Beuys are combined. This led to several inspiring photo series created in Nijmegen, Amsterdam, Kleef, Rheydt, Kassel, Tokyo.

Het Wilde Oog – artist duo Hans Lemmerman and Inge van Run – has since 2000 portrayed women in traditional costumes.
