Since their existence, studio Thier & van Daalen has been combining materials, crafts and innovation into new designs.
During Dutch Design Week they showed a new series of wooden benches and rest wooden wall shelves. Along with an extension to the GRID light, this and more they showed in their new studio at Sectie-C.

TUBE series
The studio designs with a material and translates this into lighting, accessories or furniture. They like to combine craftsmanship with innovation. You can recognise their designs by their round, almost liquid shapes and the use of tension within the materials.
Next to their light series they designed the new TUBE series, made of pine wood and aluminium tube, in which the studio plays with texture, proportion and shape, has resulted in a chubby design for stools, benches and now for this Dutch Design Week a new extension of this series.

In every serial production of items creates a waste stream. The studio has found a new destination for this discarded but valuable material of the TUBE series. By reusing the residual pieces of wood, too short or too small, a hands-on series of wall consoles is created.
The consoles, in different sizes and proportions, are composed and produced intuitively in the studio. In the same high-quality finish as their furniture, in beautiful colours based on natural colored oil.
