Living room lecture – Simone Post

By 30-03-2024

On Friday 29 March, Simone Post talked about her work at a living room lecture in Eindhoven

Simone Post
Simone Post (1990, Utrecht) is a multidisciplinary maker with roots in textiles, based in Rotterdam. Growing up, she was surrounded by sewing machines because her mother gave sewing lessons at home. In 2015, she graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Simone’s studio serves as a haven for experimentation and creation with textiles as her ultimate muse.

This can find its materialisation in various outcomes, such as refurbished and ‘reupholstered’ button chairs, alienating soft cabinets, pleated ceramics or marshmallow-turned window frames. Post’s work delves deeply into colour, texture and print. Her works exude colour and optimism, while always asking substantive questions. Her work is a testament to the potential of materials and shows that, with dedication, craftsmanship and a sense of wonder, it is possible to turn seemingly ordinary materials into something extraordinary.

With her work, Simone creates a new craft universe with extensive applications for disowned materials and fantastic candy(like) objects. She creates remarkable projects for companies such as Vlisco, Kvadrat, Adidas and Hermès as well as for her own collection.

Her work has been exhibited worldwide in Brazil, China, Italy, India and the US and has been acquired by several museums, including the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, MAD in Paris and Cooper Hewitt in New York.

House Chamber Concert / Contact
Architect Bert Dirrix and conductor Willy de Rooij regularly organise chamber concerts and small art exhibitions in their converted former garage at Strijp R in Eindhoven, where the artist/designer comes to talk about the work.

On Saturday 23 March, there was a double concert by cellist Maya Fridman and marimba player Ramon Lormans, with an exhibition of Simone Post’s work in the background. On Friday 29 March, Simone Post elaborated on the creation of recent projects.
