Canal Classics

By 23-02-2022

Vintage cars are rapidly disappearing from the Amsterdam canals and streets. The parking policy of the municipality of Amsterdam ensures that no more classic cars are added to the street. Newly purchased vintage cars disappear from our view into private parking garages. The remaining vehicles parked on the street are kept in running condition with tender loving care, and probably considerable investment. But some of those classic cars are often on the brink of death.

Roel Siebrand has been a champion of rolling heritage for some time now and recorded this phenomenon in the photo book ‘Canal Classics, vintage cars of Amsterdam’. That was quite a challenge and for some cars he had to drive past many times until the car was parked properly and the city could be seen from its best side.

Foreword is by Hans Aarsman.
