Godfried Konings – Tribute to a most singular man
Graphic designer Godfried Konings, schooled at St.Joost in Breda, was accidentally killed in July 2016 near his birthplace in Brabant. He was visiting family while exploring Europe with his wife Arian and his kids Iza (12) and Jan (10) and taking a break after 22 years of living and working in the US, first in New York City, later in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The trip to Europe was the prelude to a journey without planned end date the family had decided to undertake “on the road” throughout North America; the kids were to be “home-schooled”. The Santa Fe home was sold, friends and professional contacts were said farewell. Godfried’s abrupt demise took this family back to Santa Fe, where they are working hard at re-starting and continuing “normal” life without him. Dutch colleagues and friends decided Godfried deserved an honorary publication about his life and design work: remembrances of a singular man.
The cahier ‘Godfried Konings, graphic designer, 1962-2016’ was Sunday, February 25 introduced in St.Joost students’ old-time-favorite hang-out ‘De Bommel’.
