ONE WEEK ABOUT Kaboom Animation Festival
The annual Kaboom Animation Festival – this year from 5 to 14 April in Utrecht, Amsterdam and online – presents the latest, most creative, innovative and daring (inter)national animation productions. Besides competitions of seven feature films and many dozens of shorts in various animation techniques, the offer includes themed programme Welcome Home, a Polish retrospective, the Expanded Animation exhibition with VR & games and talks & events. Over the next few days, we show some of the Dutch participants, today Cheyenne Goudswaard.
Cheyenne Goudswaard
Cheyenne Goudswaard (1996) is a Dutch illustrator and animation filmmaker. Her focus is drawn to the dirt in the corner and the neighbor that no one wants – the unnoticed and misunderstood. She wants to peek beyond the front door to discover what is hidden in the backyard. Her fascination with human behavior, how we shape our lives and how we relate to the world is expressed into soft, intimate and relatable illustrations and animations. She graduated with a Master degree in Animation from MIVC St. Joost School of Art and Design in 2023. The same year, she won the Animation Talent Award, sponsored by the Keep an Eye Foundation, to develop her next project.
Her short film I Am Here is screening in the Dutch Shorts competition at Kaboom.
