By 05-10-2023

Alice Twemlow in conversation with Femke Dekker

Listening as a Research Method in Art and Design is the third edition in a series of interviews by the Lectorate Design at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, in which Lector Alice Twemlow talks to sound practitioner and educator Femke Dekker at the listening bar Murmur in Amsterdam. Punctuated by sonic samples from Femke’s vinyl collection, the conversation touches on topics such as different ways of listening, embodiment of sound, how to teach listening and the appreciation of the sonic as a discipline in art education.

The interview series KABK Art and Design Research Practices features the practices, perspectives, and research of students, tutors and workshop instructors from the extended KABK community.
