Nationale-Nederlanden Complete circularity

By 14-02-2024

Financial services provider Nationale-Nederlanden pursued a comprehensive circular transformation of its working environment to align with its commitment to a more sustainable future. The objective in refurbishing its Rotterdam and The Hague offices post-COVID was to achieve the highest level of WELL certification and – importantly – embrace a zero-waste approach and minimise environmental impact.

Spatial branding agency Silo and Fokkema & Partners developed a spatial identity highlighting NN’s sustainability goals, encouraging engagement from employees and visitors. In each of the four ‘co-working spaces’, users experience themes important to NN: creativity, community, sustainability and vitality. The high ambitions in terms of circularity culminated in various interventions, including residual material mosaics that have been assembled for disassembly. Integrated interactive mood makers in the brainstorming areas help foster creativity and collaboration.

The iconic bridge over the A12 highway serves as a unique event space, embodying the brand’s core values. Designed with biophilic principles, the event space creates an immersive experience connecting individuals with nature. The transition zone, marked by an interactive ceiling installation and an orange thread, symbolizes the shift from the everyday to NN’s world, reinforcing the company’s commitment to circularity and sustainable practices.
