New interior National Opera & Ballet

By 01-03-2019

From this year on, the foyer of National Opera & Ballet will look different. Architect Cees Dam’s original design of the foyer from 1986 has been updated.

Dam & Partners Architects in collaboration with Richard Hutten Studio is responsible for the design of the new foyer. Richard Hutten Studio also designed the new furniture and the new store. Among the updates are the carpet and parquet, the bars, the lighting, the armchairs, the sofas and tables. Earlier, the ladies’ toilets were renovated and the new Odeon Hall – a small hall for events such as introductions to  the performances and educational projects – was opened for use. Gispen produced the largest part of the furniture and intends to include a few armchairs and couches in the permanent assortment. Various tables were made by Hypsos. On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, the entire new design of the foyer was officially taken into use.
